About the Doctors

Stephen Hamelburg, DMD

Dr. Stephen Hamelburg has been practicing restorative and cosmetic dentistry on the North Shore since 1991. He graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Brandeis University. He received his graduate training from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1991. Upon graduation, he was inducted into the dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. OKU is a society for the top performing students, academically and clinically in each graduating class.

Dr. Hamelburg holds professional affiliations with the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society. He is committed to staying abreast of the latest techniques and scientific advances in dentistry. He regularly attends advanced training courses on, among other topics, the use of his CEREC machine, a chair side CAD/CAM technique which allows him to make crowns and other ceramic restorations in one visit. He also has served as a professional advocate at the last two Yankee Dental trade shows to help educate other dentists on the merits of this latest technology. He is currently on the way to becoming an in-office trainer for dentists who have newly acquired the machine.

Dr. Hamelburg gives back to the community by volunteering his time to many organizations. He is the President of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore. He also volunteers his time and energy with the Federation of the North Shore, Congregation Shirat Hayam and Tower School. In addition, he coaches multiple teams in various Marblehead youth sport leagues and plays basketball in a men’s league.

Helyne Hamelburg, DMD

Dr. Helyne Hamelburg has been providing outstanding dental care since 1993. She graduated in 1987 from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Hamelburg received her graduate training from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1991. She served on the board of Alpha Omega dental fraternity for four years and held the office of president. Upon graduation, she was inducted into the dental honor society, OKU. She completed her post-doctoral training in periodontology at Boston University.

Dr. Hamelburg holds professional affiliations with the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Massachusetts Dental Society, American Academy of Implantology and the American Association of Women Dentists.

Dr. Hamelburg gives of her time by volunteering with the Federation of the North Shore where she is the Vice President of the Women’s Division. She serves on the Board of Directors at Congregation Shirat Hayam. She has also volunteered her time organizing fund raising events for the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore and Tower School. In her spare time, she enjoys exercise – especially spinning and boot camp at the JCC.

The Drs. Hamelburg have two children, Alexa and Jake.

Christina DiBona Pastan, DMD

Dr. Christina Pastan graduated in 1988 from Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Upon graduation she was awarded the 'Donna Ingemie Prize' in Chemistry. Dr. Pastan received her graduate training from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1991 and was the recipient of the 'Pearl and Louis Guam' award in Endodontics. After a one year residency at the New England Medical Center in Boston, she returned to Tufts to complete her postdoctoral training in Endodontics. Dr. Pastan holds professional affiliations with the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the Massachusetts Association of Endodontists and the American Association of Women Dentists. She is also an associate clinical instructor in Endodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
